41 days to go and counting ...
I'm Kim and I'm 19 years old. In 41 days I will start a direct entry midwifery degree. I have decided to write a diary of sorts to chart my progress and allow people to see a bit of me in the process. Firstly I live in Surrey in the UK and I have a little brother, a dog and I enjoy reading, the theatre (particually Shakespeare), the cinema, socialising with friends and most watersports! I'm pretty short, about 5"2, have mid lenghth brown hair with red highlights, blue eyes and typical english rose skin (basically meaning I'm as pale as milk!!!) My favourite films are usually either horrors or romantic comedies! My best film is Drop Dead Fred. I enjoy reading Jeffery Deaver books and struggle to put a good book down. I guess I would describe myself as bubbly, friendly, extremely talkative (to the point people have to gag me to shut up!!), I'm loyal and affectionate (I'm making myself sound like a labrador - not so good!) and I'm a definate romantic. I want to be a midwife because I want to help women make their own choices about their preganancies and making it an experience they regard in a fond light rather than a painful one. I want them to feel in control of what's happening instead of being controlled. I want to act as their sounding board, their medical advisor and their friend.
At the moment I'm trying to decide what to take to uni with me. It's tough, I mean you only have so much room for things so what is a necessitiy? I've got 3 saucepans of various sizes. That's it so far. My parents decided the best thing to do is to get up there and buy everything when I get there. Which is tough for me because I loooooovvvvvvveeeeeee shopping, and the wait to get things is so long! I'm a bit of a shopaholic, it doesn't matter what it is I like shopping for it. Kitchen appliances, bathroom accessories, clothes, makeup anything even hardware tools!!
